April 2023 Monthly Meeting

Guest Speaker: Tim Matte, Executive Director - St. Mary Levee District
Please join us for our April monthly meeting. The meeting starts at 12:00 PM with doors opening at 11:30 AM for socializing.
Our guest speaker, Mr. Tim Matte is the Executive Director of the St. Mary Levee District:
- Responsible for oversight of operations of the federal and local levee system within St. Mary
Parish. - Provides budget for the Board’s consideration and monitors compliance with adopted budget.
- Oversees management of construction projects undertaking by the District.
- Presents master plan updates for the Boards consideration.
- Serves as the liaison for the District with Federal, State and local governmental agencies.
Mr. Matte served as Mayor of Morgan City from January 1993 to January 2001 and then again from January 2005 to January 2013.
In addition, Mr. Matte is a Partner/ Shareholder at Pitts & Matte, A Corp. of CPA’s in Morgan City, LA.
Mr. Matte’s notable accomplishments consist of:
- Significant experience in working with the US Army Corps of Engineers and their planning and
regulatory divisions. Experience includes meeting at the District level, Division level, and
Headquarters level. - Served on various committees including the Lower Atchafalaya River Re-evaluation committee
which was formed by the US Army Corps of Engineers to look at alternative distribution schemes
for the Atchafalaya River. - Significant experience in working with FEMA and other governmental agencies as well as
coordinating professionals utilized to support our efforts in working with governmental agencies. - Worked with US Congressmen related to flooding and other issues. Met with Louisiana’s
Senators and Congressmen locally as well as in Washington, DC. Testified before US Senate
Committee on issues of local interest. - Testified before Louisiana State Legislative committees regarding areas of interest for the local
area.
Mr. Matte holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Nicholls State University’s College of Business Administration. He has also been a Certified Public Accountant since 1979.
